My child has a cold sore?

Cold sores, also known as fever blisters, are small, fluid-filled blisters that typically appear on or around the lips and are caused by the herpes simplex virus. They can be painful and unsightly, but they usually clear up on their own within a week or two. Over-the-counter creams and ointments can be used to alleviate the symptoms of a cold sore, such as itching and pain. If your child’s cold sore is severe or persistent, it may be a good idea to consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation and treatment.
