Why does my family keep getting tonsilitis?

Tonsillitis is an infection of the tonsils, which are located at the back of the throat. The most common cause of tonsillitis is a viral or bacterial infection. If your child and you are experiencing recurrent tonsillitis, it may be due to a weakened immune system or exposure to people who are frequently sick. Other potential causes include allergies, smoking, and poor oral hygiene. It is best to consult with a doctor to determine the underlying cause of your recurrent tonsillitis and to discuss possible treatment options.
